About Russo Law, PLLC | Family Law Firm

At Russo Law, PLLC, we represent our clients with sensitivity while firmly asserting their rights through all phases of litigation, including post-trial litigation and appeals. 


We diligently prepare each case to protect our client’s interests at trial, should trial be necessary. But we understand that informed settlement is often in the best interest of clients so we make a conscientious effort to lead our cases in an amicable direction by raising non-adversarial solutions if possible.

Family law cases are commonly intertwined with other areas of law, such as criminal, real estate, and business law issues. Fortunately, we bring diverse civil litigation experience to our family law practice to help you make informed decisions.

Melissa A. Russo

Founding Attorney
Ms. Russo has defended Texans' rights in federal and state courtrooms, including cases of a quasi-criminal nature. She served as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas, defending in constitutional and statutory claims throughout Texas, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Prior to serving as an AAG, Ms. Russo specialized in issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. She has presented several family law and intimate partner violence trainings around Texas to county officials, law enforcement, colleges, crisis centers, and attorneys. Ms. Russo further contributed to the authoring of a State Bar of Texas publication concerning jury trends while defending the rights of Texas property owners and their families. It was in this role that Ms. Russo learned to evaluate net recovery through settlement versus pursuing a case through the trial phase.

Sherry Hightower

Legal Secretary
Ms. Hightower brings 27 years of legal professional experience to Russo Law, PLLC. She has performed substantive legal work for state and federal cases at top Texas law firms and government agencies.
